I have been working from home for about a year now. I love this lifestyle though most of my friends found it so difficult. This work style was so strange for me at the very beginning. It tends to increase loneliness compared with my office life.

Working from home is a bit harder than it sounds. Distractions are everywhere. But, it has definitely given me an opportunity to look out in life beyond our works. After four months of experience, I have realized that having a well-designed schedule is more precious.

Why do you want to work from home? Some of us may need to take care of our kids, elderly parents, or pets.

I just found this happy saying and he is so excited to work from home. That’s how the people around us are enjoying the experiences of working at home.

“It feels amazing! My job allows me to work from home for 2 weeks out of the month and it was the greatest thing my company could’ve done for us”.

Some people argue that home-based workers suffer from a lack of motivation offered by an office and a roomful of working people where you get to see them do their works. In my opinion, It is the most desirable and effective way for me to work. It’s such a great relief for me to work from home.

Challenges I face when working from home

When I work from home, I have to take care of my siblings, parents, and pets. Sometimes I had to give more attention to them than my work. But, when I am in the office, I am away from all the household chores. At the very beginning, I was unable to balance this lifestyle. I felt exhausted. I tried my best to complete my works, but it was useless. It was more stressful and hectic. I realized that setting boundaries between my work life and personal life are the best option to overcome it. Now, working from home is so comforting for me.

This was one of the most critical parts. The monotonous environment in my room made me so bored sometimes. I felt isolated. Most of the time, I kept wandering away from productive tasks due to several distractions in the home. Though there were some challenges, I wanted to keep one eye to keep my concentration on the works.

I thought to make one of the small rooms in my home my office room. First, I worked sitting on my sofa in the living room. But, I gradually found it so difficult because I felt sleepy when I was sitting comfortably on my sofa. I wasn’t able to focus on my work in that environment. So, I designed my office room and set up a work table. I love having a beautiful flower vase near me. I kept some lovely things to make myself more comfortable with the working environment.

Now, I can finish my work quicker. I get to finish all the work much earlier. I can get a more productive lunch break also. I use such breaks for shopping, going to the gym, exercising, or gardening. Sometimes, I love making healthy snacks during my free time.

Working from home gives me more freedom. Now, I am maintaining a separate notebook to write my work for tomorrow. I named it as “Work For Tomorrow” (WFT) list. A more flexible schedule has allowed me to interact with many friends.

It can be a little hard to motivate ourselves for the work at the beginning. If you can master your self-discipline while working from home, it will be a true blessing. Enjoy working from home because it’s really fun.
